EDI Cost File Exchange (CFE)

Welcome to the home page for Sainsbury’s EDI Cost File Exchange (CFE). Check this site regularly for updates on the CFE project. We will amend the CFE documentation on this site from time to time, but if you are currently using CFE we will notify you when this happens.

What is CFE?

CFE is the process through which Sainsbury’s check the cost prices in their RMS system against those held in a supplier’s invoicing system. If these are not identical then that organisation may not be paid to terms in full for goods supplied to Sainsbury’s. Supplier cost price information is transmitted weekly via EDI. Provided all cost prices between the two systems match prior to delivery and invoicing, zero debits will be raised against that supplier.

Benefits

Successful implementation of CFE by your organisation will lead to the following benefits:

• Minimal price debits

• Payment in full to terms

• Fewer cost price queries, leading to reduced administration

• Maximisation of the time available for commercial discussions between your organisation and ours

A NEW improved CFE launched in October 2008

In the first half of 2008 Sainsbury’s completed an end to end review of the CFE process. The result of this review was the re-launch of Sainsbury’s CFE in October 2008. New features include EDI and RMS improvements, more detailed email alerts (giving suppliers the ability to be more proactive sooner), upgraded technical support to buyers and suppliers, a more user friendly (internal) interface, dedicated support resource, simpler and more effective processes and enhanced (internal) training courses. A step by step managed roll-out out to all JS suppliers began in April 2009. We are serious about integrating effective use of CFE fully into our business.

The full roll-out to all JS suppliers has taken place on a batch by batch basis. If your business is not already a CFE user we will contact you once you have been identified as part of the next batch to be implemented. If you strongly believe that your business should implement CFE as a matter of urgency contact CFE.team@sainsburys.co.uk and the CFE team will manage you through that process
