EDI Forecast (Product Planning)

Please bookmark this page and return for any updates on the EDI Forecast process and associated documentation.

Sainsbury currently support both the TRADACOMS and EANCOMS EDI standards for various EDI messages. The Retail industry, in conjunction with the e-centre (www.e-centre.org.uk), have committed to migrating all EDI messages to the EANCOM EDI Standard. Sainsbury will only develop new EDI messages in the EANCOM standard and existing TRADACOMS messages will be migrated. No firm dates exist for the migration. For any future development please contact:

Supply Chain Support, SC.centralsystems@sainsburys.co.uk

EDI Forecast is the mechanism by which Sainsbury's sends forecast details to its suppliers.

EDI Forecasting provides the following benefits:

  • Guaranteed delivery of EDI forecasts to suppliers.
  • End to end audit trail of forecasts from Sainsbury's.
  • Reduced occurrences of lack of stock.
  • Allow suppliers to hold 'just in time' stock.

There are two GFR forecasts in use at Sainsbury's: Perishable and Non-Perishable. Non-Perishable provides forecasts for a period of three weeks in the format of total for week 1, total for week 2 and total for week 3. Perishable also provide a three week forecast but in the form of day 1 - 7 of week 1, total for week 2 and total for week 3.
