General scheme questions
-
Why did Sainsbury's develop the Active Kids scheme and what benefit does it have?
With the continued national debate surrounding physical activity amongst school
children, Sainsbury's developed a campaign in 2005 that aimed to inspire pupils
and teachers alike to get more active.
It was essential that Active Kids appealed to all kids – not just the kids
that excelled in the more traditional sports. The scheme was extended in 2007 to
include Scout and Guide groups, in 2010 to include Sport England, Clubmark accredited
sports clubs, and in 2011 the scheme also opened to sports clubs in Wales, Scotland
and Northern Ireland that are recognised by their respective National Governing
Body of Sport. Active Kids 2012 represents the eighth year of Active Kids, which
continues to go from strength to strength!
The Sainsbury's Active Kids scheme delivers real benefits in the form of equipment
and coaching, that go beyond the traditional curriculum based sports and PE lessons,
for all types of nurseries, schools, Scout and Guide groups and sports clubs, and
for all ages and abilities.
-
How successful has Active Kids been to date?
Since 2005, over 46,000 nurseries, schools, Scout and Guide groups and sports clubs
have shared over £115 million* worth of sports and cookery equipment and active
experiences. To find out how much of this went to your local community, take a look
at the Active Kids highlights.
*Figures based on redemptions received up until 5 August 2011

What is a wishlist and how do I create one?
A wishlist is a great way for you to get everyone supporting your Active Kids 2012
campaign. You can tell children, parents and your local community the things you're
collecting for, so that they can support your efforts. Create a wishlist by logging in to My Account, then browse the catalogue and add the items you want to collect for. Once
you've done this, anyone can view your wishlist by visiting the Find a wishlist
page and searching for a school or organisation by postcode. You can view and edit
your wishlist by logging in to My account. Add as many items to
your wishlist as you want, and make changes at any time.
-
How can I access my wishlist?
To create and edit your wishlist, you need to be the registered Active Kids coordinator
for your school, group or club, and be able to log in to your Active Kids account.
Visit the My account page and go to My wishlist.
You can then view and edit your wishlist whenever you want.
-
How can others view my organisation’s wishlist?
They can visit the Find a wishlist page and search for a particular
nursery, school, Scout or Guide group, or sports club by postcode. Having selected
the organisation type they’re looking for (e.g. nursery), they enter its postcode
(if known) or their own postcode, if they want to find the wishlist for the organisation

copy of your completed online order form to us. Parcelforce will then collect and

completed order form with the correct number of AKVs to our handling house.
-
When is the order deadline?
The order deadline is 5 June 2012 and all orders and vouchers must be received by
this date. Free voucher collection via our Parcelforce collection service can be

2012.

Last year we received a free tree pack with our order. Can we request a tree pack
this year?
No. You can’t request a free tree pack through the Active Kids scheme this
year. However, if you would like to be a part of planting a further 6 million trees
for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year, register now at www.jubileewoods.org.uk/freetrees
-
Can I place more than one order?
We recommend you make sure all your vouchers are collected and counted up so you
can submit one complete order. The last day you can earn vouchers is 10 April 2012
and all orders need to be received by 5 June 2012, so there's plenty of time to
count up your vouchers and place your order.
You may decide to place a second order if you get some last-minute vouchers or you
decide to use up vouchers instead of banking them for next year’s scheme.
You can place a second order online. If you banked vouchers for Active Kids 2013
on your first order, these will appear in My vouchers total balance
when you are in your basket, and you’ll be able to use these in your second
order. Remember: print off your completed order form and send it to us with your
vouchers by 5 June 2012.
Alternatively, you can choose to place a second order using the paper order form
provided in the back of your catalogue, or you can print a blank order form.
But make sure you send us your completed order form and correct number of vouchers
by 5 June 2012.
-
My school/group placed an order as part of last year's scheme and we are still waiting
for some of our equipment. What should I do?
If you have any specific questions regarding your order, or any of the equipment
you have received, please contact the Active Kids equipment helpline on 0845 124
3633.†
-
What is the £1 fee that is mentioned in the terms and conditions for?
Your organisation pays Sainsbury's £1 for any equipment you redeem, and Sainsbury's
pays you £1 for the use of your organisation’s name in local publicity.
These two sums cancel each other out, so no actual money will change hands (an invoice
will be issued for your records only). If your organisation is VAT-registered, please
remember your invoicing obligations.
-
I don't want my nursery/school/Scout or Guide group/sports club to be featured in
the local press. Can we still register?
By participating in the scheme, organisations give consent to Sainsbury's to use
their details in local media. Many schools over the years have received local press
attention through Active Kids, which has been extremely well received by both teachers
and pupils. If you don't want to be featured, however, you can decline the opportunity
if contacted by Sainsbury's.
-
When will Active Kids 2012 deliveries be made?
All organisations that meet the order deadline of 5 June 2012 will receive their
equipment by the October half term. We may deliver in instalments (depending on
product availability), but each delivery will have a note clearly describing its
contents. If a coaching session or experience has been ordered, you will receive
further details including how to make your booking (if relevant).
Online ordering prizes
Please refer to the terms and conditions for further details.
-
What is the online ordering prize?
This year every organisation that places their order online and sends their vouchers
in by 5 June 2012 will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 10 prizes of 5,000
Active Kids vouchers.
-
How are the prizes awarded?
All you have to do is place your order online and send us your vouchers before 5
June 2012 and you will automatically be entered into the prize draw. Ten lucky winners
will then be drawn at random by an independent adjudicator from all completed Active
Kids 2012 orders.
-
How will I know if I have won?
All winners will be notified by telephone or email no later than 1 September 2012.
-
Will I be able to use these vouchers in 2012?
No. Winning vouchers will be credited to the winners account for Active Kids 2013.
This is a great little kick-start to your campaign next year.
