Our Team Leaders are very important people. Getting involved in every area of the store’s running, they lead and motivate colleagues in everything from stock replenishment, food safety and customer service, to setting up displays and driving sales. You’ll deputise in the absence of department managers, but while you move up the career ladder and enjoy all kinds of training, you’ll also get stuck in on the shop floor. Retail experience is a must, and you’ll also need the strong customer focus that makes Sainsbury’s stand out from the crowd.

Leading, motivating and developing colleagues in behind-the-scenes functions ranging from cash office to ordering, you’ll be pivotal in the smooth running of the store. As well as playing a hands-on role, you’ll be running the department in the absence of the manger, gaining the experience to climb the career ladder. We’re looking for an admin background, ideally in retailing, and some people management experience. In return, our training will turn you into a great team leader and give you the necessary technical skills.

Leading, motivating and developing a team of bakers and trainee bakers, you’ll play a hands-on role in producing a mouthwatering range of breads and cakes and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of machinery, equipment, storage and preparation areas.
