Collecting for a School in our Area 03 Mar 2008

    Hello

My name is Catherine & I work for a major bank in a call centre. As part of our help for the community myself & another member of my team have decided it would be a great idea to start collecting the Active Kids vouchers. Neither of us have children but have found that we have alot of vouchers, we are currently setting up boxes to place all over our building & with each team on each floor (we have 9 floors & about 7 teams to a floor, within the building we hve about 900 people). I was wondering if anyone knew of where I could get some posters & leaflets to place over the building to make people aware of it & also if anyone knows of any schools in the Southend on Sea area that are collecting the vouchers.

Any help would be very helpful.

    Many thanks

    Catheirne

I think you will find that Sainsbury's provide info for the schools and groups when they sign up.

You can make a very effective poster yourself by just arranging a number of the vouchers on an A4 sheet and putting the words 'Yes Please' underneath and then photocopying it and laminating it. Don't use capitals - use upper and lower case as they are easier to read. Increase the size of the type rather than use all capitals. Describe what you are doing in as few words as possible. (Use the glue that allows you to reposition things you are sticking down or a little bit of blutack so you don't spoil the vouchers.)

Some of the schools or groups that could best use your tokens may not be already signed up. Why not see if there is an area which could really do with some input and where you could help generate some enthusiasm by giving those exhausted teachers and/or volunteers in a club some help? You could look at the items that are available to see if there is something there that you could aim for because although you don't others may have divided loyalties regarding schools/clubs. The vouchers are only available for a short length of time!

Have you read through the Active Kids part of the site? Some of the schools who collected last year are featured with stories on how they motivated everybody to work together and collect.

    Hi Catherine..
I have just kind of googled.. and that schools that appear online are:
    1) Marjorie McClure School
    2) Temple Sutton Primary School
I hope this is good enough.. I could give you a name of a manager.. who is incharge of advertising.. but I'm not so sure if that's allowed?
Next best thing to do is, if you write to JSainsbury's personnel department, or admin department, they maybe able to send you your adverts.
Good luck, and hope you collect plenty of Active Kids Vouchers! :>

If you would like to place posters and leaflets in your offices advertising this scheme you can call the AK08 helpline on 0844 415 8440. One of my colleagues on the helpline will be more than happy to give you the materials you need.

I hope this information gives you the details you need to choose a suitable recipient for your Active Kids vouchers. It may be an idea to sponsor a different school or nursery for each floor of your building. That way it could be also a bit of a competition amongst the teams to see who can get the most vouchers.
